Our Mission, Vision & Value Statements

[1]

Our Mission: Flint Hill UMC exists to be a "lighthouse and a"life saving station" through Christian Outreach, Witness and Nurture."

Our Vision: We believe that God has called us to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through faith sharing, biblical preaching and acts of compassion and love. We affirm that we have a commitment to nurture one another in the Christian faith through Bible study, small group ministries and accountability. We will reach these ends through preparing and equipping our people to share their faith, finding and executing new ministries which will meet human needs and continuing to grow small group ministries."

Our Values:

Biblical, Relevant Preaching and Teaching: We believe that those who bring God's Word to us should be committed to "equipping the saints for ministry" (Ephesians 4:12) Those who preach and/or teach should be prepared to challenge, correct and encourage the congregation in order that they might: (1) accept Christ as Lord and Savior, (2) become a true disciple of Jesus and (3) become willing to do the work of ministry. They should preach and teach within the Wesleyan tradition but most importantly under the guidance and empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

The "Priesthood of All Believers" (1 Peter 2:9): While we affirm that God calls certain individuals to specialized ministries of Word, Sacrament and Service, we also affirm that all baptized believers are called of God to reach out with the love of God to share the Gospel of Christ. Therefore, we call upon all who are part of this local body to be involved in ministry.

Reaching Out to Those in Need: We affirm that humanity is in great need of the love and saving grace of God and that we care called to meet those needs (Matthew 25:31-46).

Therefore, we will reach out to our immediate neighbors, ascertain their needs and develop ministries which will help to meet those needs. We will go beyond simply "throwing money" at a situation but will develop a "hands on" paradigm of ministry. Furthermore, we will remain committed to sharing the love and grace of God with those who live far from us by supporting foreign missions.

Sharing the Good News in a Contemporary Manner to All: While we affirm that the traditions of the church are important and should be valued, we will commit to finding ways to share the Gospel in a manner that will attract today's generation without regard to any barrier, real or imagined.

Excellence in All Areas of Ministry: We commit to giving our very best effort in all forms of ministry. This will be achieved when ever person is exercising his/her spiritual gift in the very best manner. Furthermore, it means all teachers, preachers and group leaders will come prepared to teach and lead in the very best manner possible with the goal of helping us to grow in faith.

Intentional Growth: We affirm of desire to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20). We will not be satisfied with a status-quo mentality; therefore, we will seek to numerical growth without compromising our integrity or biblical truth.
